The evening will begin with a keynote by Kai May (Unverzagt Rechtsanwälte) about the legal aspects of showrunning. Followed by a panel talk between Samuel R. Schultschik (Superfilm), headwriter and executive producer of “School of Champions” and Sabine Weber (ORF), moderated by Flora Mair (Drehbuchforum Wien).
They will discuss how the role of the showrunner has evolved in Europe, the current state of the profession, and the creative and legal challenges that come with it.
Afterwards, you are warmly invited to continue the evening with networking snacks and drinks on the rooftop, while meeting our international programme participants and speakers.

Keynote
Kai May, lawyer and partner, Unverzagt Rechtsanwälte, Programme Director Business & Legal Affairs
Samuel R. Schultschik , writer, director and producer at SUPERFILM Filmproduktions GmbH, studied Film in Berlin and Hamburg, graduating with an M.A. in Screenwriting from Hamburg Media School. He co-wrote several Tatort episodes and currently serves as showrunner of the drama series School of Champions.
Sabine Weber, studied Germanistics in Vienna, worked as a publishing editor, and has been with ORF since 1996. Since 2008, she has served as head editor and dramaturg for feature films and series, including iEmmy-winning Das Wunder von Kärnten, Die Toten von Salzburg, Die Toten vom Bodensee, Netflix co-production Freud, and acclaimed TV films like Vier (Baden-Baden 2023) and Bis in die Seele ist mir kalt (Wiesbaden 2024).
